Get Wet Surf School operates at 3 locations on the Gold Coast

Where is the best learn to surf beach on the Gold Coast? The local’s favourite, Spit Beach.

Get Wet Surf school have been conducting surfing lessons at The Spit Beach since 2005. The Spit is loved by locals and visitors as it is last undeveloped location on the Gold Coast. A stunning beach with no high-rises and no crowds. The Spit is located at the end of Seaworld Drive Surfers Paradise.

The local’s playground for surfers and families. Get Wet surf school holds the council permit to conduct learn to surf lessons on the beach between the rock wall and the iconic sand pumping, this is a non-bathing zone which means that its only accessible for board riders with a flagged bathing area located just south of the jetty, This means that we have 100’s of metres of beach to choose from for the best surf conditions for your lesson.

This is one of the best locations on the Gold Coast to learn how to surf as the rock wall and the sand pumping jetty create a “safe zone”, unlike the more exposed open beaches on the tourist strip. There are no strong sweeps to push you up the beach and with the big waves breaking out behind the Spits sand banks the waves in close are just right for beginners surfing lessons and intermediates. Once you master the whitewash the green waves beyond the sand banks are perfect.

The Spit beach is located approx. 6km from the heart of Surfers Paradise and just 2 min drive past Seaworld. There are toilets/changing rooms, freshwater showers and The Spit is the home of the iconic Seaway Cafe where you can try their famous crab sandwiches, Barista coffee, home-style burgers and the best chips on the Gold Coast.

Our head office, The Surf Shack, is located behind the Seaway Café in Doug Jennings Park, Seaworld Drive Main Beach.
To find us, just walk down the right side between the café and the amenities block and come in the back gate. Our office is usually attended from 7.30am to 3.30pm 7 days a week.

The Spit carpark has FREE ALL DAY PARKING so you can stay and enjoy a picnic in the park, spot turtles in the seaway or even a SUP lesson in the still water Marine stadium.
