Our surf school is located at The Spit, the far north surfing beach on the Gold Coast. If you have surfed previously with us, you know how great this place really is. We can spend hours talking about how good conditions are for learning to surf here. Talk about how the pumping jetty and the rock wall collect high amounts of sand that result in gently rolling waves you can surf all the way to shore. Or the fact that this place is so exposed to swells that even on the smallest days you will still have decent sized waves to learn how to surf… But we are not.

At Get Wet Surf School we like to consider ourselves something more than your average surf school. We don’t just want to put you on a surfboard and throw you into the ocean. Our goal is that you enjoy an experience as well as our beautiful location… And even if you are not interested in surfing, The Spit is definitely a place you should visit. Here are 5 good reasons to visit this awesome place:

1. SCUBA DIVING AND SNORKELING

Ok… so you prefer to be under rather than exposed to the waves. The good news is that The Spit Seaway offers some of the most incredible diving in South East Queensland with easy access for snorkelling. The Seaway is home to over 460 species of fish plus Eagle rays, Leopard sharks and over 10 green turtles at any one time.

2. HIKING, JOGGING, CYCLING and BIRDWATCHING

Don’t wanna get wet? That’s fine! You can check out the Federation Walk Coastal Reserve, 93 hectares of coastal dunes, a unique fusion of native vegetation, dunes, open space and ocean views. A network of established paths and tracks throughout this beautiful reserve allow for hiking, jogging, cycling, birdwatching or simply sitting under the trees and listening to the birds singing accompanied by the sounds of the ocean.

3. KAYAKING AND STAND UP PADDLEBOARDING

Are you more of a still water type of person? Then go to the Marine stadium! This place is the protected cove on the inside of The Spit and is perfect for Stand Up Paddleboarding, Kayaking and is a popular location for boaties to set anchor for the day.

4. CHILL and EAT

Hungry?? The Spit is also the home of the iconic Seaway Kiosk with the best home style fish and chips, burgers and their famous crab sandwiches. Doug Jennings Park is a large grassy area opposite the kiosk that is very popular for family picnics, corporate and sporting events and even music festivals.

5. PUPPY LOVE?

The Spit is one of the few designated dog-friendly beaches on the Gold Coast. This makes this place the best to bring the whole family surfing.

And did I mention there is free parking all day??

So what are you waiting for? Come surfing with us or just relax and enjoy the view. Next time you are around the Goldy be sure to visit this excellent place. If you have further questions regarding our location, drop us a line here or call 1800 GET WET and we will be happy to help you. See you for a day of happiness at The Spit!
