Running every Saturday or Sunday from 8am to 10am, this program is designed to help kids refine their surfing skills, build confidence, and deepen their understanding of the ocean in a fun and supportive environment.
Throughout the course of this program our instructors will focus on the fundamental aspects of surfing:
- Refreshing the fundamentals, including paddling techniques, pop-ups, and stance.
- Improving balance and coordination, with exercises on board control and turning.
- Introduction to wave selection and positioning to enhance confidence in catching waves.
- Ocean awareness, including reading wave patterns, currents, and safety in the water.
- Refining surf etiquette and understanding how to share the waves responsibly.
- Putting it all together and allowing the groms to showcase their progress whilst our instructors film.
When booking on our website, you only need to choose the first date, and our system will automatically reserve the next 5 Saturdays/Sundays for you. Please note, commitment to the full 6 weeks is required, as no refunds will be given. This program is designed for those who have already completed at least 3 lessons with us- Time to take your grom’s surfing to the next level!

Kids Lessons

We supply all surf equipment so all you need is swimmers, towel, thongs (flip flops) and a bottle of water.
Shuttle Bus Service
The shuttle is for participants only. The bus can be booked for a small fee. Our lessons are held at The Spit and there's ample FREE parking at our location.
Student Rates
Student rates are applicable to anyone who is the holder of a valid student ID – children, adults and international students.
Children Under 6
Children under 6 years are recommended to do a private surf lesson for their own safety.
Children 6-12 yrs
Children 6-12 and under are not permitted to join the group lessons with adults for their own safety, special exemptions may be made if the child is physically capable but that must be approved by Get Wet Surf School management.
Children’s only classes (for 6-12 year old’s) are held during school holidays and most Saturday mornings. Children’s only classes offer a 4 students to 1 instructor ratio for safety.
Parents are welcome to assist small children in a children’s only class if that are competent in the water.
Public Holidays
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS: in line with fair work agreements all of our instructors are paid public holiday rates, so a surcharge will be applied to lessons on official Queensland public holidays.
