Can you imagine yourself riding a wave on the beautiful Gold Coast?
Our 2-hour Introduction to Surfing lessons are designed to give you a taste of the thrill of surfing!
Joining a group of like-minded people looking for something new to try is always loads of fun. We get you down to the beach then run through some basic steps that will have you standing up on your board in the safest, easiest way possible and after some basic safety instructions we get you out on the water as soon as we can.
You might only be on the Gold Coast for 1 day and want an awesome photo of you riding a wave, or you may be wanting to tick it off your bucket list, or just want to see why it’s one of Australia’s greatest pastimes, then we encourage you to give it a go. Our surfing instructors are there to make it fun, safe and easy for people of all age groups and levels of fitness. We want you to love surfing as much as we do. All equipment is provided and transfers can be added for a small fee.
For the safety of our participants we conduct adults lesson separately to children’s. For the best results, our adults (13 years +) group surfing lessons run with a maximum 5 student to 1 instructor ratio (this is a lower ratio than recommended by leading surfing bodies). For children’s group surfing lessons (6-12 years ) we run with a maximum 4 student to 1 instructor ratio.
These sessions are an introduction to surfing so you need no experience or skills at all. The instructor is in the water with you the entire time. You can sign up for 1 lesson to see if you like it and if you want more we offer a discount for 3 or 5 lessons.

Beginner Lessons
2 hour Introduction to SurfingWhat To Bring
We supply all surf equipment so all you need is swimmers, towel, thongs (flip flops) and a bottle of water.
Shuttle Bus Service
The shuttle is for participants only. The bus can be booked for a small fee. Our lessons are held at The Spit and there's ample FREE parking at our location.
Student Rates
Student rates are applicable to anyone who is the holder of a valid student ID – children, adults and international students.
Children Under 6
Children under 6 years are recommended to do a private surf lesson for their own safety.
Children 6-12 yrs
Children 6-12 and under are not permitted to join the group lessons with adults for their own safety, special exemptions may be made if the child is physically capable but that must be approved by Get Wet Surf School management.
Children’s only classes (for 6-12 year old’s) are held during school holidays and most Saturday mornings. Children’s only classes offer a 4 students to 1 instructor ratio for safety.
Parents are welcome to assist small children in a children’s only class if that are competent in the water.
Public Holidays
PUBLIC HOLIDAYS: in line with fair work agreements all of our instructors are paid public holiday rates, so a surcharge will be applied to lessons on official Queensland public holidays.
