The Gold Coast is one of the best places to escape to for Queenslanders and Australians alike. From the rainforest to the beach to the local cuisine, there are so many things to do and experience in the region. We have taken the guessing game out for you, and rounded up the ten best school holiday activities for kids and kids at heart!

Skypoint Observation Deck – Surfers Paradise

One of the first things you should do when visiting the Gold Coast is visiting the Skypoint Observation Deck at Q1. With 360 degree views of the Gold Coast from 77 stories high, you not only get one of the best views of the city, but can get your bearings of this beautiful city. If you are feeling really brave, you can do the Skypoint Climb – which is Australia’s highest external building climb!

Get Wet Surf School – Main Beach

Surfing is the activity of choice for locals and travellers, and Get Wet Surf School is the best school to learn or improve your surfing at. Get Wet does their lessons at The Spit in main beach, which is the ultimate beach on the Gold Coast to learn to surf. With options for kids, adults and private lessons, Get Wet has options for everyone!

Aquaduck Gold Coast – Surfers Paradise

Everyone has heard of Aquaduck, having operated on the Gold Coast for the last 24 years, thousands of families have enjoyed this iconic experience. Cruising along the beachfront esplanade from Surfers Paradise to Main Beach then dividing in the water for some sightseeing around the canals and beautiful broadwater. Aquaduck is Australia’s first amphibious tour, and combines a city and river tour into one fun, educational and memorable experience. Aquaduck is perfect for families, multi generational families, couples and groups. Tours run hourly throughout school holidays and be sure to book to avoid disappointment.

Southern Cross Tours – Gold Coast Hinterland and National Parks

Discover the ‘hidden gems’ of the Gold Coast with Southern Cross Tours. The Gold Coast’s Hinterland region and national parks are a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. With a variety of tours available – like an evening glow worm tour and the Natural Bridge tour to name a few – this is not something to be missed on the Gold Coast.

Federation Walk – Main Beach

With 70 hectares of vegetation and three kilometres of shoreline, Federation Walk is a great bushwalk. The nature walk takes you to The Spit in Main Beach, where you can stop for a bite to eat at the Seaway Cafe. Try one of their famous crab sandwiches or raved about fish tacos to fuel you before the walk back!

iFly Indoor Skydiving – Surfers Paradise

Skydiving is one of the most adrenaline pumping, heart racing and amazing experiences you can have. iFly is an indoor skydiving experience where you can be as young as 3 years old or as wise as 100 years old! iFly’s flights are often twice the length of what a typical skydiving experience is and can be done in any weather – since it’s indoors. They also have a new virtual reality experience which is a must try!

Miami Marketta – Miami

Miami Marketta is a laneway dining experience, with over 25 food and drink vendors to choose from. With food options like Italian, Asian, vegan/vegetarian options and dessert vendors, there is something to please the whole family. Entry to the Marketta is free, and it’s open from 5pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Gold Coast Watersports – Main Beach

Some of the best ways to see the Gold Coast is by air and from the water; Gold Coast Watersports offers both! They offer parasailing, jet skiing and flyboard tours daily, with packages available if you wanted to try two or more of their experiences. Gold Coast Watersports boasts the largest range of water activities on the Gold Coast, and it is not something to be missed during your holiday.

Go Vertical Stand Up Paddle Boarding – Surfers Paradise

The Gold Coast is truly a ‘paddlers paradise’, and stand-up paddle boarding at Budds Beach with the Go Vertical crew makes you realise why! Go Vertical offers lessons, hires and tours along the Surfers Paradise waterways, giving you a great insight into the Gold Coast lifestyle so many come here to experience!

Paradise Jet Boating – Main Beach

If you are ready for an adrenaline rush, then Paradise Jet Boating is the place to go! The original jet boating experience on the Gold Coast, with exclusive access to the Moreton Bay Marine Park, is not something to be missed on the school holidays. Find out for yourself why they are Australia’s #1 jet boating experience through one of their Broadwater tours.
